Day Six: Donley's Wild West Town

There is only one thing to say about day six: FANTASTIC! It was so much fun. We had a great time. It is a small attraction but everything to do was delightful. It was hands down everyone's favorite. Maybe not JR - he is really into fishing right, as evidenced by the hat, and the fish hatchery might have been his favorite. This was definitely his second favorite, though. I have lots of pictures because there was so much to do. I just couldn't help myself with all of the pictures. Sorry!

We first saw a wild west stunt show. I didn't take any pictures since we were just sitting on bleachers but it was fun. The kids especially loved the shoot outs. After that we went to the pony rides. Everyone loved them. It was so much fun.

Sam was a little unsure but I think by the end he loved it!

After the ponies we rode the roller coaster. Sam and I went on the first time and then we let just the big ones since I decided it was child abuse for the poor little guy. He is as good as gold though and never even fussed.

After the roller coaster ride, we headed over to pan for gold(pyrite). The kids loved it. It was their favorite thing all day. They kept wanting to go back again and again. Ruthie was really good at seeing the "gold" and came home with quite the booty.

Look at what I found!

Even Sam got gold crazy!

Next up: archery. The kids all did really well with it. Joe had a hard time but there was a nice young man who was really sweet with him.

Then the kids went on canoe rides. Kinda cheesy but fun.

No wild west town would be complete without a petting zoo. Everyone loved getting to pet all of the gentle animals. Except the geese, they were a little ornery.

Emma LOVES pigs. She as in hog heaven - pun intended.

After the petting zoo we headed to the sling shots.

By this point we were getting really hot and sweaty. The train ride was the perfect answer. It was shaded and as we drove around a nice breeze would get us.

After the train ride we were ready to work up a sweat again. We tried to learn how to lasso. I was a little annoyed because the "helper" wasn't very helpful but the kids had fun anyway.

The next activity was a classic: the carousel. It was actually the fastest one that we had ever been on so it was extra exciting!

I don't know what these little carts are called but they sure were fun! The kids loved racing around the track on them. Even Joe did great on them.

Next we went to the shooting gallery. JR loved getting to shoot a gun. He had pretty good aim too!

After we did all of these things we went back and did most of them again! It was so fun and the kids loved it all. It was such a great day. I am so glad that we found this delightful little place. If we ever do this trip again, it will definitely be on our to do list.
